About MySpace

MySpace is a social networking website, now owned by Fox Interactive Media/ News Corporation. MySpace became the most popular social networking site in the United States in June 2006. MySpace was overtaken internationally by its main competitor, Facebook, in April 2008, based on monthly unique visitors (rest of Wikipedia article).

Interesting ethnographic work begun by Danah Boyd identifies the typical youth user of MySpace as the disenfranchised: the kid from the other side of the tracks, the Goth kids, the creatives, the Native American population.
